Volunteer’s FAQ

How can I help?

All kinds of skills, interests, and experience can be useful in pulling together an event. Don’t hesitate to complete the ‘Steps to Volunteer’ process if you would like to get involved.

What happens to my Offer of Help?

Offers of Help are accessible by all Managers. The information you provide will help them to decide whether you would enjoy the roles they have in mind. When they see skills and experience that they need, they use your email or phone information to get in touch and invite you to help.

I can’t see my team listed?

The Amaroo 2017 Event structure is a little different to what we have been used to in the past. Please choose a team that has responsibilities of interest to you. It may be that the exact role you have fulfilled in the past is no longer needed.

My form won’t submit

The most common cause of forms not submitting is missing or incorrect entries. Please check carefully before contacting [email protected] for technical help

I have done the briefings before do I have to do them again?

Our records are valid for 12 months only. For your own safety and wellbeing please complete the process again. Thank you

I’ve already been invited to join a team, do I need to do anything else?

Please follow the ‘Steps to Volunteer’ process, you will be able to select ‘I already have a confirmed role’.

I’ve offered to help but I haven’t heard anything

Many supervisors and managers are also volunteers. They may not be operational yet – in some cases they may not even be appointed. Please know that your details are made available through your completion of the online Helper Form, and that you will be contacted if an opportunity comes up that matches your skills, experience, and interests.

I need to change my Offer of Help

The Helper Form can’t be edited once it has been submitted. If your change is crucial, such as contact information, you may email [email protected]

I need to make travel arrangements what’s happening?

HR is unable to confirm individual helper placements. Managers and supervisors follow up on offers of help themselves.

Can I come early?

Managers decide which, if any, roles within their teams require personnel to move on site before 8 September. If your role requires you to come early, your manager will let you know. Every year some people arrive early without an invite.  While your enthusiasm is welcome, accommodation needs to be managed. Without an invitation you will not be able to stay on site before 8 or after 15 September.

Can I stay on after the event?

Managers decide which, if any, roles within their teams require personnel to stay on site after 15 September. If your role requires you to stay on after the event, your manager will let you know. Every year some people arrange to leave later without an invite, while your help is welcome accommodation needs to be managed. Without an invitation you will not be able to stay on site after 15 September.
